Praise for Cruise Director Peter Kissner
Julie | July 28, 2010

We received this nice comment from a guest who sailed aboard Star Clipper:

Kissner250Safely back on board, I decide to head for the ship’s library where a talk on the earliest sailing voyages of mankind is being offered up before dinner. Now I’ve attended many such presentations on other cruises and frankly, they can be boring. The library is comfortable, rich, and beautifully appointed. The stock of literature, predominantly in English and German, isn’t something to sneeze at either.

I arrive late and passengers are already comfortably assembled around the perimeter of the room. At the front with a world map affixed to the wall is Peter Kissner, a tall, tanned Bavarian with tousled blonde hair drawn back in a pony tail. He is Star Clipper’s Cruise Director. My expectations for the talk aren’t very high.

When he wrapped up at eight o’clock, and even with hunger pangs whispering, I was prepared to sit there all night, riveted by this man. I’m not the betting sort, but I’d wager that Peter has more knowledge about maritime history than academics in this field. Not only that, his storytelling ability is unmatched. We heard about Ferdinand Magellan, the first to circumnavigate the world. We heard all about the political intrigue surrounding his historic voyage, and Peter magically teleported me to the deck of Magellan’s ship where I became one of this famous navigator’s men.

I promised myself not to be presumptuous about on-board talks again.

Mary & I also have high praise for Peter. Not only is he well versed in nautical lore, but very helpful with “keeping the customer satisfied”. We experienced some difficulties ashore that initially seemed disastorous. He helped us through it. As a result we were able to enjoy the cruise, the itinerary, and the ship complement.

Thanks to the captain, and Star Clipper for attacting such people.

Peter is a great asset to the Star Clipper. He makes the time aboard ship run smoothly, he’s very knowledgeable about all things nautical, and he makes a seamless transition between English and German (and sometimes French). He also makes a great talent show MC.

We will definitely cruise again with Star Clippers.

I’ll second that Peter is an incredible asset. We just got off the Clipper in St. Maarten after a wonderful trip through the Caribbean. He is both entertaining and enlightening, and those orange running shoes are the height of fashion. (:

After just completing our 17th cruise last week with Star Clippers in Costa Rica, on all 3 ships at one time or another, I too commend Peter for being one of the finest cruise directors we’ve had the pleasure to sail with. Story time with Peter is something not to miss. We first sailed with Peter in Dec 2006 from Phuket to Singapore and were amazed at his knowlege of the area. In Dec 2010, to my delight, we boarded Star Clipper in St Maarten and found that we’d be sailing with Peter. Once again, the man is a walking text book. By the end of this summer, my husband and I will have completed our 18th, 19th and 20th cruises with Star Clippers and I hope our paths will cross with Peter again sometime.

Hi, for me Peter is just the best, I had many cruise directors before, but nobody can reach him. I always make sure he is aboard when doing my booking. His talks are outstanding.

I sailed on the Star Clipper through the Greek isles last week. It was an amazing experience, made so by Peter Kissner, the tall goodlooking, blond, tanned cruise director. I’ll recommend him without any reservations. He has charme and humor. His information on the Aegean and sailing were outstanding. He is the right person in the right spot, Star Clipper company should be very happy to have him aboard.
